Introduction

Well, it's about time to finally start writing in my blog, and today is the day.  I'll try to keep it short and sweet, but two glasses of wine might vote to the contrary.  Anyway, I just finished up watching 28 Days Later, on the recommendation of my good friend Stacey.  I must say, I really liked this movie.  It isn't typical of most action movies out there today.  There was plenty of action, but the movie wasn't overrun with it.  At times the director let the scene/shot and music speak for itself.  It had a comic book feel to it because of that.  It's refreshing to see a movie that doesn't just rely on constant gore/violence/action, etc. to keep the audience interested.  I ate some pasta while I started the movie and if my muscles weren't so sore, I'd have patted myself on the back for my sauce.  I sliced and sauteed a portabella (sp?) mushroom with sliced garlic in some olive oil.  Once that was ready, I added the sauce and let it simmer while the pasta cooked.  It came out better than expected, which is always encouraging.  Trust me - I'm no Emeril, I have a long way to go in my adventures in cooking, but that's all the fun.  I uncorked a bottle of Red Bicyclette, a French Syrah, to go with dinner.  I bought the wine for its unusual name and bargain price - about $6.00.  I love it when the oddly-named wines turn out great.  I'm a fan, and I'll probably buy a couple more bottles of this while it's still on sale.

Well, that's all I'm going to say for now.  This post is probably a good example of things to come, as I will probably often comment on my cooking experiments, failed or not, as well as things like movies, music, books, etc.

Cheers!
